Does Anyone Know What Day It Is?

Does anyone know what day it is? Like seriously, for a millisecond or maybe more, I was convinced that it was Tuesday. In fact, it almost made its way into the blog as the title. Clearly, there are advantages to working at home and never having to leave. However, it has a Ground Hogs’ Day sort of feeling that leaves you wondering what day it is. Honestly, if it wasn’t for my different yoga classes, I don’t think I’d be able to determine the day of the week truly.

Regardless of my difficulty determining the day of the week, I crushed the day professionally. I had two very productive sales meetings with clients. Moreover, I sent out three presentations for clients to review. Today was awesome! When I initially took the position, one of the main draws with the flexibility of the position. However, I have found, over the course of the last few weeks, that meeting and connecting with interesting and successful people is the best part of the job. In fact, I can see how much I am going to learn in this position through my professional interactions. It’s truly exciting.

As for my fitness goals, I wrote a bit about my shoulder being off last night. Unfortunately, it continues to be a bit unstable and a bit painful. Originally, I planned to do the BBG arm workout today. However, when I saw the exercises, I realized I needed to skip it today. Sadly, I think copious amounts of burpees and other plyometrics are not what my shoulder needs right now. Fortunately, I was able to go to my yoga class and that was fantastic. I modified poses where I needed to for my foot and shoulder, but overall I felt pretty good in class. In truth, I am so grateful that my new job allows me the flexibility to take a yoga break whenever I want.

My yoga studio, Open Heart Yoga Studio, has been a sanctuary for me since I started in late October of 2019. When I first restarted my practice, my entire body was tight. In fact, my shoulders were nearly frozen and were a significant source of pain. I started slowly with the gentle classes at least five times a week. Eventually, I was taking classes six days a week and increasing my intensity. This studio, its owner Jennifer and all her teachers, has been crucial to rebuilding my fitness and healing my body. For those of us with autoimmune disease, yoga is a fantastic way to decrease stress and inflammation.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has not been kind to small businesses and my wonderful yoga studio is no exception. For those of you in the South Florida area, I urge you to give your local studio a try. If you’re in Palm Beach County, come check out Open Heart. These small business owners need our love and support more than ever! Here’s the GoFundMe that was started to assist my favorite yoga studio: www.gofundme.com. Where ever you live, check in on your local business owners and see what you can to help them. If you happen to follow my blog and are a small business, please let me know so I can feature you here.

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read The Song of the Lark, by Willa Cather

*Slow Flow with Ava from Open Heart Yoga Studio. I enjoyed the sound of the storms as I melted on my mat.

*Morning and afternoon meditation

*Perhaps is the nefelibata in me that things people show grace to their fellow man when disagreeing on Facebook.

*Obedience training Anakin

*Week 10 BBG 2.0 day 4 yoga

*I was determined to hit all my professional today and I did! I love Wednesdays!

Thirteen Days

Thirteen days until I see my oldest again! I told you I was counting down the days, and I was not lying. Today I booked an awesome Airbnb in the mountains for us, which looks absolutely divine. I cannot wait to be in an environment with no humidity, mountains, and my airmen. Accordingly, I’m now looking for things to do around his base, so we can occupy our days while he works. Fortunately, he has the weekends off, so we’ll be able to go on some fun excursions on those days. Did I mention I was excited?

Today marks the end of tryout week, and as always, it sucked balls. Florida hockey is a strange place, and I look forward to writing a book once my kids’ age out. Emphatically, I assure you it will be a tantalizing, disgusting, and sometimes uplifting read. Spoiler alert: the adults are the assholes. Nevertheless, I’m pleased with things turned out and am looking forward to an exceptional season. I have some thoughts and feelings about this years’ tryout season, but I’ll save them for the book. Incidentally, I’ve already started writing, but I am torn as to leave the stories as blind items or name folks. Honestly, I guess we’ll just have to see where the pen leads me.

Today was a beautiful lazy day. I’ve been feeling a little bit of a tinge starting in my left hip flexors. Consequently, I decided to take the rest of the week off from running to give my hips a break. Instead, it was a perfect day for yoga. Today’s class followed the Ashtanga sequence wand was challenging. We did a lot of work opening the hips and the hamstrings, which will help alleviate the pain in my hip. It also allowed me to work on my crow, handstand, and headstand. Unfortunately, I totally bit it on my first attempt at crow pose, which left my knee a little sore. The second attempt at the pose was successful. As for the other two poses, I nailed it.

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I started reading North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell

*Vinyasa with Monica from Yoga Mundo

*I got to FaceTime my Jake. I can’t wait to see him.

*Morning and afternoon meditation put me in a good space. It was a dreamy Saturday!

*I was craving some mouthwatering cake but settled for some gluten-free chocolate frosting instead.

*Took Anakin out to go to the bathroom. Today he was chasing feathers.

*Obedience training Anakin

*Week 9 BBG 2.0 day 6 yoga.

*Countdown clock: thirteen days

*As I read today’s paper online, I wondered how many people still receive an actual paper.

Two Weeks!

Two weeks! The countdown is on my friends. In two weeks, get to see my airmen again. I haven’t seen him since his BMT graduation. Moreover, his brothers haven’t seen him since they told him goodbye at the MEPS hotel on December 9th. Obviously, it’s been far too long since they’ve seen each other. This military mama’s heart is full; it is full of love and anticipation. Over the next two weeks, I will subject you to a countdown calendar. Just be glad that it won’t be as awful as Andy’s Christmas countdown gift to Erin in The Office.

My day started on a bright note. My hubby offered to pick up my morning coffee since he was working from home today. I really needed some extra sleep. Perhaps you remember from yesterday’s blog that I was so tired I was channeling my inner Madeline Kahn in a theatrical number. I did have an early business meeting, so I had to get up and get dressed. After my business meeting, I took to the workout mat. Friday is Abs day on the BBG program. It was a great workout.

Fortunately, I had some time to eat a quick snack and get some work time between my BBG workout and yoga. One thing I always look forward to on Fridays is my Gentle Flow class. Today’s session was no exception. We did a lot of ab and hip work. Needless to say, after an hour of BBG abs and yoga, I’m going to be quite sore tomorrow. Indeed, it was the perfect way to end the workweek. Afterward, I went to yoga teacher training, where we spent more time learning anatomy and physiology.

Meanwhile, the tumult and turmoil that is tryout weeks continues. It’s honestly sickening. I don’t know why we put ourselves through this year after year. We must be crazy! Unbelievably, we don’t have that many seasons left. Consequently, I opted to stay home tonight. So the hubby has the Mayor at two different rinks tonight. Goalielocks left super late and is exhausted, so we gave him the night off. The last thing we need is for them to weaken their immune system or get sick. After all, in only two weeks, we’ll be headed West to visit Jake.

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read Shirley, by Charlotte Bronte.

*Gentle Flow with Jennifer from Open Heart Yoga Studio

*I completed a morning and afternoon meditation.

*Took Anakin out to go to the bathroom. He was quickly hunting the butterflies and dragonflies.

*Obedience training Anakin

*Instead of going to Target to buy groceries, my lazy self ordered them via Shipt.

*Week 9 BBG 2.0 day 5 abs and yoga.

Dreamy Saturday

Dreamy Saturday indeed. Don’t worry J Lo wasn’t in my dreams again last night. No, this dreamy consists of a day well balanced between productivity and relaxation. I was able to get some work done this morning before taking Monica’s great vinyasa class. As for Monica’s class, it is always challenging and invigorating. My headstand practice continues to improve. I actually stuck one for several seconds before almost tipping over. Fortunately, I was able to catch myself and come back down the right way. Monica’s Saturday class is ninety minutes of yoga bliss. By the end of class, I’d burned over two hundred calories and was drenched in sweat. Obviously, I was also completely relaxed and ready to face the rest of the day.

I grabbed a quick lunch. Today it was a lean cuisine. Since I’m starting the anti-inflammatory diet tomorrow, I figured I’d enjoy one last microwave meal. Doesn’t that sound tasty? By the time I finished eating, it was time to meet Luke’s colleague to deliver a check and pick up a check. Fortunately, we met at the rink, which has a Dunkin in the parking lot. Unsurprisingly, I indulged in a second cup of Dunkin’ on the day. Meanwhile, I chatted with my folks. I was happy to share how well Jake is doing at his new base. Thankfully, he FaceTimed them soon after I finished talking to them, so they were able to see and hear first hand how well he is doing. Naturally, my parents were tickled pink to see his new abode and see his face.

I worked while I finished my coffee, making for a spectacularly productive afternoon. Afterward, I went for my run. There were storms in our area, so it was another treadmill run today. Correspondingly, I turned on Curb and my music. The run went well and felt good. My hips, ankles, and knees all felt good throughout and after the run, which is key! I’ve been running for twenty-two to twenty-five minutes with a five-minute warm-up and thirteen-minute cooldown. As for the tempo, I’ve been steadily increasing it week over week. Indeed I’m ramping up the tempo very gradual. If I ramp it up too fast, I will reinjure my tendon.

Tonight I cooked up a delicious parmesan crusted chicken with roasted carrots and couscous. This was another HelloFresh meal and it was delicious and easy to prepare. I will be ordering this meal again. Naturally, the boys hated it, which was okay because we wanted to eat more. As for the rest of the evening, we’re watching Seinfeld with the puppies. Moreover, we’re planning our trip to see Jake! I can’t wait! It has been way too long since I’ve seen that boy. As for his brothers, they haven’t seen him since December! Hopefully, we’ll have the trip figured out and planned by the end of the weekend.

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read Shirley, by Charlotte Bronte.

*Vinyasa with Monica from Yoga Mundo

*Morning and afternoon meditation put me in a good space. It was a dreamy Saturday!

*I made celery juice today. I’m not looking forward to drinking it.

*Took Anakin out to go to the bathroom. Today he was chasing feathers.

*Obedience training Anakin

*Week 8 BBG 2.0 day 6 yoga and cardio.

*As a treat, I enjoyed a Kinder bar again! I wish I had one more.

He Made It!!

He made it to his new home! That’s right my son left tech school early this morning to fly to his final duty station. We weren’t given many details as to the happenings aside from the day. In fact, I woke to a text from him that he had already taken off and was on his way. Of course, leaving is always bittersweet. He had a great BMT experience, I know it sounds crazy, and an equally wonderful Tech school experience. Fortunately, he had two great roommates. His first was never around as he was allowed to live with his wife in on-base housing. However, his second roommate has become a good friend. Undoubtedly, he left tech school with several new life long friends and will look back on these days with fondness.

Now back to my neurotic military mom’s mind, which was trying to figure out which flight and airline he was on before getting out of bed. Eventually, I heard from him when he landed for his brief layover in Dallas. While I was in yoga, he boarded his second flight of the day. By this time, I had figured out his flight number and was dutifully stalking him as I got my namaste on. Fortunately, I took today’s yoga class via Zoom, so I could stalk without distracting my fellow yogis. As for today’s yin class, it was absolutely delicious. I’m really loving the balance that this yin class has brought to my practice and my body.

Once yoga was over, I did my hair. I know, it’s amazing, right? I think it’s the first time I’ve plugged my flat iron on since 2019. Needless to say, I think it might be time for a larger flat iron as my hair is no longer short. Fortunately, my flat iron did the trick and my hair looked good. Once I finished my hair, I added some eyeliner, mascara, and lipstick a headed to work. Fortunately, the commute from my bathroom to my bedroom office was quite short and without traffic jams. While it may seem unlikely that there could be a traffic jam at my house, please remember I have two teenage boys and three dogs. Anything is possible with them!

Today was a really productive day for me work-wise. I made several new connections with really interesting people. One thing that I love about this job so far is meeting and connecting with extraordinary people. These folks have their ish together! It’s awesome! Truly, I think connecting with interesting people will feed my soul. For example, I connected with two women today that are doing extraordinary things in their communities. I can’t help, but feel empowered and inspired by their successes. It’s an exciting time, but also a grind. I worked on pitches for several hours today with mixed success.

Usually, I would run on Thursday, but my hips weren’t feeling it today. As Shakira so wisely said, “hips don’t lie,” so I skipped my run. Instead, I’ll log my runs on Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully, I can get up early enough to run outside before the heat is too oppressive. I built a lot of momentum over the morning, so by skipping my run I kept my work productivity firing on all cylinders. It was a win-win situation. Also, I think this demonstrated huge personal growth for me as before I would always run through the pain – no matter what. Clearly, I paid a high price for that and have learned my lesson. Yay me!

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read Shirley, by Charlotte Bronte.

*Yin Yoga with Jennifer from Open Heart Yoga Studio

*Morning and afternoon meditation

*I cooked cheese smothered chicken served with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. This HelloFresh meal is amazing. If you’d like to try it with no obligation, let me know.

*Took another gander at my garden today. The sweet potatoes continue to thrive, while the tomato plants have shriveled.

*Tonight I’m watching nature shows with Anakin.

*Week 8 BBG 2.0 day 4 yoga.

*He made it! I was happy to get his Facetime call from his new dorm! I’m proud that he serves our country.

Celebrating Us

Today we are celebrating us. That’s right today is our 19th wedding anniversary. I can’t believe we’re old enough to have been married this long, but whatever. Clearly, we haven’t been aging that fast. Since we’re still in the midst of the COVID crisis, we enjoyed a nice Blue Apron dinner at home. The Hubby did most of the cooking, but I was there to assist as needed. He brought me some beautiful roses and a wonderful card. I bought nothing today, which I thought was a great present for him. In all due seriousness, we’ll celebrate our anniversary when we head to the Keys later this month.

The Five of Us at Stegastein on Aurlands Fjord in 2017

Naturally, we both had to work today since it’s a Tuesday. He spent the day working on a job up in Jupiter. Meanwhile, I worked from home. The best part, of course, was that my day was scheduled around yoga and my run. Did I mention I love my new job? I love that I have the flexibility to continue the things I love, but still work my tail off at work. It’s a win-win situation. Moreover, the best part of sales is the opportunity to meet people doing incredible things. Hopefully, I’ll gain traction quickly and start earning a consistent paycheck. In the interim, I’m happy to be productive again.

Since I have a standing noon meeting, I’ve switched up my yoga schedule a bit. Instead of taking yoga for a healthy back, I’m now taking Vinyasa with Monica in the morning. Naturally, the vinyasa class is significantly tougher than the health back class, however, it is perfect for me. Honestly, I can’t tell you how much I have missed a Monica Vinyasa class. I used to take her class 3-4x/week until she left Burn and I got hurt. I’m glad to back in her tough and rewarding class. However, since I’m taking a vinyasa class on Tuesday, I’m taking yin classes on Thursday and Friday to balance out the practice.

Post yoga, I made it home for my standing sales meeting. It was refreshing to have a productive, succinct sales meeting that drone on for an hour. Within thirty minutes, I was hard at work on building and executing my contact strategy. It felt pretty damn good. I powered through the afternoon and was extremely productive connecting with several professionals. Hopefully, those connections will turn into meetings over the course of the next week. Needless to say, it was a productive workday.

Naturally, it wouldn’t be Tuesday if I didn’t log a 3-mile run or complain about Facebook. Today’s run was purposefully difficult. Consequently, I increased my tempo for the majority of the run. For the most part, I felt good throughout. Comparatively, the last four minutes of my run sucked. Fortunately, I’m on season 6 of Curb, and Leon just got introduced. He and Larry are ridiculously funny, which kept me distracted for most of the run. Nonetheless, the last few minutes were still awful. As for this evening, we’re just chilling on the couch enjoying a Parks & Rec marathon. Oh and the best anniversary present? A call from our airmen! I love hearing from him.

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read Shirley, by Charlotte Bronte.

*Vinyasa with Monica from Open Heart Yoga Studio

*Worked!

*Did you know that the first ring I received from my hubby was a ruby ring?

*I quietly enjoyed a morning and afternoon meditation

*Took obligatory picture of Anakin! It turned out super cute!

*Obedience training Anakin

*Week 8 BBG 2.0 day 2 cardio and yoga

*And now I feel better today!

Great News

So let me set the scene for you. It’s just after 10:00 am EST and I’m thirty minutes into a dreamy yin yoga class with Jen. When out the blue, my phone illuminates with a Facetime call from my boy. Ordinarily, we don’t hear from him during the week, especially during the workday. Naturally, I had to take the call. Fortunately, I was taking the class via Zoom and was already muted. While Jen worked us into a new pose, I chatted with my son. The great news was that he passed and was being promoted! As I sat in my pose, I could hardly contain my excitement. Honestly, I wanted to get up dance, but since Jen was recording the Zoom session I figured better not make a fool of myself.

At the moment, I felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. As I looked at him with great pride, I could see a tremendous weight had also been removed his shoulder. When you think about it, it’s an extraordinary accomplishment. Nearly seven months ago, he left our home for basic training. Today he completed an industry-leading certification! Moreover, he didn’t have to spend one penny to earn it. In fact, he got paid! Perhaps the best part of all of this is that he’s where he belongs. He loves his new role and is beyond excited about his future. As his mom, I couldn’t be more proud.

After I hung up the phone, I quickly sent an update to our family’s group text thread. My heart was bursting with so much pride, I could have done 100 vinyasas back to back. Alas, I was in a yin class, so that would have been pretty obnoxious. Quickly, I refocused on the class as I meditated on his big success. Never in my imagination did I imagine he’d end up in his current career field. I’m glad, however, that he took good advice looking to the service instead of focusing on college. This way he’ll get an education and stay debt-free. By the time we got to Shavasana, I was an emotional puddle of pride and joy. Truly, tears of joy streamed down the side of my cheeks as I relaxed into the pose.

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read Shirley, by Charlotte Bronte.

*Yin Yoga with Jennifer from Open Heart Yoga Studio

*Morning and afternoon meditation

*Took obligatory picture of Anakin! It turned out super cute!

*I am relaxing on the couch watching Rick & Morty free of the stinky flatus of my boys.

*Obedience training Anakin

*Week 7 BBG 2.0 day 3 cardio and yoga.

Slay All Day

It was a slay all day kind of day here at the Hockey Mom Fit Life. Naturally, it started with my cup of Joe from Dunkin’ and some quality time with the dogs. Before breakfast, I knocked out the BBG arm workout. I continue to despise lie down pushups and burpees. They’re simply horrible! As for the jumping rope, I’m getting much better at this. Obviously, I planned my morning, so I’d have about ten minutes between BBG and my yoga class. After I finished BBG, I broke my fast with some almonds and a banana.

Anakin and I thread the needle

Today was the second time I’ve taken Ava’s slow flow class. It is incredible! Additionally, since I knew what to expect today, it was easier than last week. Ava does a great job creating an innovative flow that covers all the major bases. I’m excited to see how my body responds to her classes. Unfortunately, my Mayor loves to interrupt my yoga classes by letting Anakin into the room. It is sometimes annoying behavior. Fortunately, Anakin loves to join me on the mat for yoga. Moreover, timing is everything here, and thankfully the Mayor didn’t interrupt my savasana. I can only imagine what goes through my sweet puppy’s mind when runs onto my yoga mat.

After yoga concluded, I had fifteen minutes to clean myself up and make some coffee before my Zoom call with my new boss. That’s right folks, I’ve started a new job as a sales executive with a start-up firm that specializes in promotional gear for companies. I’m particularly excited that the new role has maximum flexibility to fit into the life I want. Clearly, I’ve had a very firm list of requirements for any role I would take in my post-Kaplan life. Fortunately, this opportunity checks all of those boxes. Consequently, if you or someone you know owns a business and needs some SWAG, I’d be happy to help.

Since it’s Wednesday, it’s also my HIIT run day. I like to do this run in the late afternoon after my second cup of coffee wears off. Today’s run was 20 minutes of 30-second intervals alternating between 7.5, 7.0, and 3.0 mph. Amazingly, I had no concept of how long a 30-second interval can be until I was running one at 7.5 mph. Alternatively, I had no idea that a 30-second interval could be so short when catching my breath at 3.0 mph. Fortunately, my run play-list and Curb help get me through the most arduous parts of the run. Today’s run went well albeit the 7.5 mph tempo is a stretch for me. Afterward, I did my normal post-run stretch routine. Yesterday I changed it up a bit by extending the sleeping pigeon pose stretch from one minute to two minutes. This helps keep my glutes and hips healthy.

My hubby worked all day but still made dinner for me as I had some conference calls to jump on to. Tonight he grilled some chuck eye steaks and cooked Margherita Chicken Pasta courtesy of HelloFresh. I gotta be honest here, the HelloFresh pasta was absolutely amazing. Certainly, I don’t need to eat that many carbs or calories, but I totally earned it today. Even my Mayor, who has become annoyingly picky, tried and enjoyed the pasta. Since Goalielocks has never liked spaghetti, he enjoyed a nice, juicy grilled steak. As for the rest of the evening, I have a Purple Stride call and a good book in my future.

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read Shirley, by Charlotte Bronte.

*Slow Flow with Ava from Open Heart Yoga Studio

*Morning and afternoon meditation

*Took obligatory picture of Anakin! It turned out super cute!

*I took a nice cold, gelid as an icy pond, shower post run. Clearly, it was amazeballs.

*Obedience training Anakin

*Week 7 BBG 2.0 day 2 cardio and yoga

*And now I feel better today!

Off to Bed Early

Well I’m off to bed early since I’m not feeling fantastic. Clearly, the Saharan dust isn’t agreeing with me and my allergies. I did log my workout today, but it was a fight to get through yoga. My body is just exhausted and maybe fighting something off it could be a a cold or an autoimmune flare. Or I could have just worn myself out.

Today started in the most Monday of beginnings. Anakin had a blow out in his crate early this morning. Honestly, it was not a great way to start the day. Needless to say, I was feeling a bit salty about the mess I had to clean up. Obviously, I needed some coffee on board before I could confront that mess. So Anakin and I went to Dunkin for coffee and Donuts.

Afterwards, I started the work of cleaning out Anakin’s crate. Fortunately, we have a high pressure hose that worked perfectly for cleaning out the crate. Thankfully, my Mayor helped by changing out the puppy pad, vacuuming the floor and mopping the impacted area. Once I finished the cleaning, I was able to finally enjoy my coffee.

The rest of the day was spent dreaming of foreign vistas and ports. There are so many places I’d like to visit once the world opens up again. Moreover, there are so many people that I want to visit and see. First and foremost, I cannot wait to see my airmen!!! Hopefully, I’ll be able to see him before the summer is over. I’d also like to see my family in Minnesota sometime soon. What is the first place you want to visit once the world reopens?

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read the The Life of Charlotte Bronte by Elizabeth Gaskells. It is an absolutely amazing book.

*Gentle Flow with Monica from Yoga Mundo

*I am still sick of all the windbags on Facebook.

*Morning and afternoon meditation

*Took obligatory picture of Anakin!

*Obedience training Anakin

*Week 7 BBG 2.0 day 1 legs and yoga

*And now I’m off to bed early!

Hazy and Lazy Sunday

Today was a hazy and lazy Sunday. The best kind of Sunday there is outside of the hazy part. Unfortunately, the Saharan dust has left our skies a bit hazy. Fortunately, the Saharan dust does bring good tidings as it plays a vital role in fertilizing our hemisphere notably the Amazon rainforest. Truly, the earth is amazing, but I’m sure you didn’t come to my blog for an earth science lesson. As for me, I was slightly less productive than the fertile dust storm. I woke up feeling a bit under the weather. My throat was sore and there was a little pressure in my sinuses. Oh, the joy of being an allergy suffering. Nonetheless, I succeeded in turning this hazy and lazy Sunday into a productive one.

Yesterday, I took a total rest day. Consequently, today I doubled up my workouts. For the first time, I took Jen’s Vinyasa class. It was great. Since I wasn’t feeling great, it was a little tougher than it probably would have been normally. We did a lot of ab work, so I’m sure I’m going to be feeling it tomorrow. Importantly, I opted to take the class from home via Zoom since I wasn’t feeling 100%. Sharing is definitely not caring during these pandemic days. Throughout the class, I could hear Anakin barking at my door trying to get in. Eventually, he was able to sneak in. Anakin loves when I’m practicing yoga on my mat. Particularly, he likes to kiss my face while I’m in yoga poses. Today we perfected the Anakin supported wheel pose. Needless to say, it was pretty cute.

Afterward, the hubby headed to Home Depot to pick up a new microwave. Our old microwave bit the dust last night after fourteen years of good service. While he shopped the aisles, I shopped from home. Since I had a sore throat, I skipped out going to the store. The dogs and I chilled on the couch and enjoyed the best nature programs Hulu had to offer. Meanwhile, both boys actually did their chores. Thankfully, the microwave was easy for the hubby to install. I’m so glad to have a microwave in working order. After all, it’s hard to make nachos without one. I did order the hubby some additional steaks to grill at dinner with our Blue Apron fajitas, so we would have ample steak. Additionally, I got the dogs some ice cream. Lastly, instead of buying us all candy to share, I bought some gluten-free frosting to “share.”

The hubby made his way outside to clean the patio after installing the microwave. He did an awesome job on the patio on both of our cars. Since I’m asthmatic and heat-sensitive, I did not help with the outside chores. Instead, I logged my run on the treadmill. Initially, I wasn’t sure I’d make it through the whole run since I wasn’t feeling 100%. Undoubtedly, it was starting to feel like a futile effort for the first five minutes of the run. Unsurprisingly, once I got past the first five minutes of the run, I hit my stride and felt good. Well, as good as you can feel while running on a treadmill after eating too much frosting. Truly, I felt a lot better after the run. Before I went to start dinner, I went through my post-run stretch routine.

Anakin and Athena enjoying their ice cream

My hubby and I teamed up to make dinner. He had started it as I finished my run, so I grated the cheese and sauteed the onions and peppers. Per the recipe, the steaks were to be cooked in the pan. Instead, we opted to grill the steaks. This proved to be a great decision because the steaks tasted amazing. As for the filler, the pickled cabbage and cucumber was a great addition. They provided a great contrast to the sauteed vegetables and grilled steaks. All in all, it was an awesome meal. I was completely full after two fajitas. Clearly, we will be ordering this meal again. Perhaps the best part of dinner was when the Mayor got caught sneaking steak into his “cheese wrap.” He is a professed steak hater, so he was trying to hide that he had added steak to his wrap.

Here’s a list of our day’s activities:

*I read the The Life of Charlotte Bronte by Elizabeth Gaskells. It is an absolutely amazing book.

*Vinyasa with Jen from Open Hearth Yoga Studio

*Facetime with Jake! The best part of my week!

*Oh man, I may have melted in the Florida heat today, while struggling to breathe with the Saharan dust storm.

*I am so sick of all the windbags on Facebook.

*Morning and afternoon meditation

*Took obligatory picture of Anakin!

*Obedience training Anakin

*Week 6 BBG 2.0 day 7 cardio (run) and yoga

*I took Anakin, Maya and Athena out for a walk
